Peter Chukhnóv (Petr Chukhnov) was born in 1993 in a family of pianist Vladimir Chukhnov and harpist Tatiana Ponomareva in Moscow (Russia). Peter started playing the piano since 4 years old, and first several years he attended Prokofiev Music School. At that time he played once a role of a young Sergei Prokofiev playing Scherzo for piano (composed by young Prokofiev) in a documentary film about this composer directed by Andrei Konchalovsky. Peter graduated with honours from music school of Academical Music College of Moscow State Tchaikovsky-Conservatory by piano class of I.A.Verigo-Sitnova, and also graduated with honours from Academical Music College of Moscow State Tchaikovsky-Conservatory by piano class of T.N.Rakova. Between the School and College Peter also attended the world-famous Central Music School for two years in piano class of professor N.Trull. Later he also studied with professor A.Ryabov for a year. Through these years Peter often performed in Rachmaninovsky-Hall, Small-Hall and Great-Hall of Moscow State Tchaikovsky-Conservatory. Also he continuously took part in Bolshoi-Theatre concerts of orchestra-soloists’ kids, in which he performed works of P.I.Tchaikovsky, S.S.Prokofiev, F.Chopin, F.Liszt, Balakirev’s “Islamey” etc. also performed 20th Piano Concerto of W.A.Mozart and both Piano Concertos of F.Chopin with Bolshoi-Theatre-Orchestra. 

Throughout the College years Peter won several Prizes in Piano Competitions, such as 1st Prize in “From Russia to Italy” (2011, Moscow, Russia), diploma of “Merzlyakovka Priglashajet Druzjey” (2009, Moscow, Russia), 1st Prize in a “Best Performance of Concert Etudes” Piano Competition of Academical Music College (2013, Moscow, Russia).

After college Peter won “Prix de Virtuosite” in “IX International Adilia Alieva Piano Competition” (2014, Gaillard, France) and the 3rd Prize in “X International Adilia Alieva Piano Competition” (2016, Annemasse – Geneve, France – Switzerland).

In March 2014 he took part as soloist-pianist staging in Bolshoi Theatre the “Lady of Camellias” ballet by John Neumeier which is fully-based on F.Chopin’s music in 3 Acts (Both Piano Concertos, Andante Spianato et Grande Polonaise Brilliante, Ballade g-Moll No.1, 3rd Piano Sonata, selected Preludes, Fantasy on Polish Airs, etc.) . Since premiere Petr Chukhnov performed it more than 40 times, also on 6th of December 2015 the ballet was recorded and live-broadcasted worldwide in cinemas and on YouTube in collaboration with Pathé. 

Peter Chukhnov continues to co-work with worldwide famous ballet stars. He performed in “Dansa en cuerpo y alma” as soloist pianist two short ballets based on S.Rachmaninov’s (selected Preludes) and F.Chopin’s (selected Mazurkas and Valse) music in collaboration with Lucia Lacarra, Marlon Dino, Joaquín de Luz, Ashley Bouder and Sarah Lane. The Festival took place in Summer 2015 in Sevilla, El Escorial and Santander.

Peter graduated from University of Music and Performing Arts of Munich (Bavaria) as a Pianist in 2017 with a Bachelor of Music academic degree.

Peter often takes master classes of different famous professors, some of them are Pascal Devoyon and Andrea Bonatta.

Peter is a participant of MusicAlp Summer Festival (Tignes, France) and Lenk Summer Music Academy (Lenk im Simmental, Switzerland).

Peter has a wide repertoire of solo-piano pieces and also plays a lot chamber music, such compositions as B.Bartok’s Sonata for Two Pianos and Percussion, Sextet C-Dur by E.von Dohnanyi, Violin Sonata G-Dur and Piano Trio a-Moll by M.Ravel etc. 

He takes part in many concerts in Europe, and has performed in Gasteig (Munich, Germany), State Kremlin Palace (Moscow, Russia), Yamaha Music Europe (Hamburg, Germany), Künstlerhaus am Lenbachplatz (Munich, Germany), Steinway-Haus – Rubinstein Hall (Munich, Germany), Palacio de Festivales (Santander, Spain), Teatro Auditorio San Lorenzo (El Escorial, Spain) and many others.

Since 2016 Peter Chukhnov is a member of Tonkünstlerverband Bayern. Also he is a member of PianistenClub of Munich.
